Speaking of which, the 1971 Barolo is nothing less than majestic. What a thrill it is to drink it. Subtle, delicate and ethereal, the 1971 is everything Barolo should be at this stage in its life. Crushed flowers, mint and sweet dried cherry are some of the many nuances that grace the 1971. There is nothing to be gained by cellaring bottles further.

I have had far better bottles of Cappellano’s 1971 Barolo. In fact, a good bottle of the 1971 is a life changing experience. This bottle is far from that. The elevated ripeness and sweetness that are signatures of the vintage are nevertheless evident.
Informazioni sul produttore

Serralunga d’Alba’s Cappellano is one of Barolo’s most legendary producers, producing ultra-traditional styles of Nebbiolo. Made famous by Teobaldo and now in the hands of his son Augusto, the estate is best known for its Barolo Piè Franco, a wine from ungrafted vines in the Gabutti Cru.
