Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2016-2023, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2015

The 2013 Zinfandel Duarte Vineyard is dark, fleshy and seductive, with a good dose of aromatic lift from the sandy soils. Sweet red cherry, plum, spice and mint are laced together. Effortless and gracious, the 2013 hits all the right notes. The flavors are intense and aromatic, with plenty of rose petal and sweet red berry fruit notes.

Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2015-2020, Robert Parker, Apr 2015

It represents the more feminine side of Lodi, particularly when compared to the blockbuster Dogtown. I often comment on different terroirs, and certainly the influences of beach-like, sandy soils are present in the 2013 Zinfandel Duarte Vineyard from Contra Costa County. Coming in at 15.2% alcohol, the wine is black and dark red-fruited, with plenty of pepper, spice and loads of round, opulent, silky characteristics. This particular offering didn’t offer the incredible finish that most of these 2013s seem to possess. It is medium-bodied, elegant and best drunk over the next 4-5 years.

The 2013 Zinfandel Duarte Vineyard is bright, lifted and aromatic throughout. This is one of the more vibrant, saline wines in the range, yet there is lovely sweetness and depth to the fruit. Dollops of Carignane and Mataro round out the blend in this intriguing Contra Costa Zinfandel-based red.
