(64% semillon, 34% sauvignon blanc and 2% muscadet): Pale, bright gold. Captivating, sauvignon-dominated aromas of juniper berry, oyster shell and honeysuckle, plus a light fusel quality. Very ripe and honeyed; in fact, almost chardonnay-like in its richness and texture. But still quite primary today, combining the phenolic qualities of semillon with the acid zest from the sauvignon blanc. Finishes broad, lush and very dry, with excellent subtle length. Morlet suggests pairing this wine with foie gras or sea urchin.

The 2010 Proportion Doree is striking. It possesses more minerality, verve and backbone. Orange peel, tangerine, mint and sweet spices are some of the nuances that flow from this beautifully delineated white. This is gorgeous white wine.
The 2010 Proportion Doree (Semillon/Sauvignon) is striking. It possesses more minerality, verve and backbone. Orange peel, tangerine, mint and sweet spices are some of the nuances that flow from this beautifully delineated white. This is a gorgeous white wine. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022. I was quite frankly amazed by the range of wines I tasted with Luc Morlet. The wines span everything from single-variety Chardonnays, Pinots and Syrahs to Bordeaux-inspired blends. La Proportion Doree is a Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc blend with a dash of Muscadelle. Morlet’s Billet Doux is a late-harvest version of that wine, but with fruit just from Alexander Valley. Passionnement is Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards in Oakville, while Coeur de Vallee is Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, also from Oakville. Mon Chevalier is a Bordeaux-style blend made from vineyards in Knights Valley. Morlet Estate, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Helena, is the newest wine in the lineup. Tel.
