Punteggio 16/20 · Da bere 2024-2040, Jancis Robinson MW, Jun 2019

Dark ruby. Nicely married aromas but still with masses of tannin! Really quite inky and austere for the moment. Definitely not picked overripe. Dry, almost austere, finish. (JR)

The 2015 Yon-Figeac is a huge, powerful wine. From bottle, it is just as intense and racy as it was from barrel, but there is quite a bit more tannin and overall structure coming through today. For that reason, I would prefer to cellar the 2015 for at least a few years. Super-ripe dark cherry, smoke, plum, licorice and tobacco power through to the close in this imposing, assertive Saint-Émilion. The blend is 81% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot.

Made from 80% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Château Yon-Figeac has considerable class and length. Black raspberries, toasted spice, licorice, hints of truffle and dried flowers all emerge from this concentrated, rich, yet beautifully textured 2015 that has sweet tannin and a great finish. It’s a seriously good Saint-Emilion to drink over the coming decade or more.
