Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2024-2027, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Sep 2024

The 2023 Lytton Estate Rosé is a blend of 36% Grenache, 26% Zinfandel, 15% Mataro, 14% Cinsault and 9% Counoise, picked in seven separate passes. “I want that grippy, bracing acidity naturally,” winemaker Shauna Rosenblum says of the grapes harvested earlier at around 18° Brix. In subsequent picks, she explains, varieties like Grenache are picked at higher ripeness, around 22.5° Brix. The result is a polished rosé that combines full flavors, moderated ripeness and excellent freshness. It has bright aromas of cantaloupe, garrigue and freshly baked bread, and the light-bodied palate features mouthcoating peach and melon flavors, vibrant acidity and a long, spicy finish.

The 2023 Rosé Lytton Estate is a kitchen-sink blend of Rhône varieties. It's a simple, cheerful Rosé with bright peach, white cherry and almond notes. Uncomplicated and chuggable, the 2023 is nicely tart, fresh and linear through the medium-length finish.

A blend of 36% Grenache, 26% Zinfandel, 15% Mataro, 14% Cinsault and 9% Counoise, directly pressed and then fermented and aged in steel. Partial malolactic. Light peachy pink. Smells of berries, citrus, rose hips and a hint of peach. In the mouth, bright, citrusy raspberry and redcurrant flavours have a crisp snap to them, with a hint of underlying minerality and a refreshing citrus pith zing. Excellent acidity and length. (AY)

Full bottle 1,209 g. 36% Grenache, 26% Zinfandel, 15% Mataro, 14% Cinsaut, 9% Counoise. From the wonderfully detailed label: 'Bottled Jan 24. A cold winter and spring brought twice our normal rainfall, which delayed the growing season by four weeks. The grapes were picked in seven distinct lots and pressed separately. Cinsaut was ready first on September 11th and the last, Grenache, on October 20th ... Ingredients: hand-harvested, organic grapes, selected yeast, naturally occurring malolactic bacteria, minimum effective SO 2 .' Medium salmon in colour. Chalky minerality, ripe yellow peaches, ripe Rainer cherries. Puckeringly high acidity that carries through the saline finish. On the finish, there's the flavour equivalent of the smell of sun-baked hay – warm, slightly sour, toasty. (SCJ)
