The 2016 Barolo is medium in body, classically austere and full of character. Sweet red cherry, mint, white pepper, cedar, tobacco and dried flowers emerge, but only with great reluctance. I would not be in any rush to open bottles soon. Readers who enjoy traditionally made Barolos will adore the 2016. Patience is key here. (AG) 90+

Walnuts, berries, tar and hints of smoke on the nose. It’s full-bodied with chewy tannins and a dusty finish. Chewy at the end. Drink after 2023.

The light ruby-colored 2013 Barolo offers medium-bodied notes of sour cherries, damp earth, and underbrush to go with firm, grippy tannins. I like its fruit, but it’s firm, hard, and lacks some charm. Give bottles 3-4 years and hope for the best.

The 2013 Barolo by Brovia is made with a blend of fruit from the estate's various single vineyards. A large part of that fruit comes from medium-aged vines from the Brea site in Serralunga d'Alba. This is a fabulous and generous expression that offers a polished and elongated quality. The wine stretches beyond its borders with intense aromas of dark fruit and licorice. It also offers ample dimension and depth.
