Some distinctly green notes on the nose. Of all the second wines tasted this seemed the most obviously second best with some slightly unripe berries in there. Light and flirtatious but I feel the selection has not been strict enough for the wine to be taken quite seriously enough. (JR)

An excellent second wine (a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc), with medium to full body, opulent, delicious fruit, and copious quantities of black fruits intermixed with spice box, the 2000 Comtesse de Lalande should drink well for 10-15 years. It is one of the finest second wines this estate has produced.
