Da bere 2023-2035, FINE+RARE, Aug 2023

A slightly reductive nose at first protects a beautiful lifted peppery spiced aroma, with lightly herbaceous notes and fresh blackberry fruit. With more air there is sweeter liquorice tones and a savoury, mineral, ferric aroma. The wine really comes alive on the palate, the tannins are beautifully resolved, providing a seamless layering of juicy blackberry flavours, cassis and ripe raspberry fruit. The wine has lovely restraint too, notably medium bodied yet has found wonderful depth. The wine has a lovely overriding freshness and some tension on the finish. It is an exceptionally elegant Seña in 2021.

Overwhelming nose with a cornucopia of black, red and blue berries, perfectly accented by fine toasty oak. With aeration the floral notes expand. Super-concentrated and vibrant with incredible finesse on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Such great brilliance at the finish, where the power builds very steadily. Still so young, but already dangerously delicious. It will be really hard to wait. A cuvee of 50% cabernet sauvignon, 27% malbec, 17% carmenere and 6% petit verdot. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2025. 20th Anniversary Berlin Tasting Event, February 2024.

50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Malbec, 17% Carmenère, 6% Petit Verdot. Aged 22 months,  90% in French oak barrels (70% new) and 10% in foudres. A bright purple colour with pure cassis, mint and cinnamon on the nose. The palate is silky, the ultra-refined tannins cloaked in beautifully preserved black fruit. There is a zest to the acidity that matches the riper tones of fruit nicely. Licks of sweet spice are well judged. This is very well made, with a long, harmonious finish. (TP)

Full bottle 1,427 g. Bit heavy! 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Malbec, 17% Carmenère, 6% Petit Verdot. Aged 22 months, 90% in French oak barrels (70% new) and 10% in foudres. Deep crimson. Luscious fruit but real lift. There's that Chilean green/chocolate thing (Carmenère?) but overall it's a satisfying wine made with sensitivity from ripe but not too-ripe grapes. Dry, appetising finish. (JR)

Seña 1:1
Seña

Seña – literally meaning “signal” – was Chile’s first icon wine. In the early 1990s, the country had a reputation mainly for lower-end, high-volume wines, but Eduardo Chadwick, owner and president of Viña Errázuriz, set out to change that.
