Note di degustazione
The 2015 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile de Vergelesses is excellent and offers up a deep and complex bouquet of black cherry, chocolate, wild berries, game bird and rich spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and complete, with a velvety attack, a deep core and a rich tannic chassis. The Ile de Vergelesses is more structurally elegant than the Les Vergelesses bottling (which hails from lower down the slope), but it's just as concentrated and deep. I suspect this will evolve like a modern-day version of the lovely 1990.

Very dark red. Pungent aromas of dark raspberry, cherry, sandalwood, and smoky crushed-stone minerality. Plush, savory and broad; uncharacteristically rich and mouthfilling for this bottling, hinting at an almost chocolatey ripeness. But enlivened by its stem-influenced pepper and spice notes, not to mention its penetrating saline minerality. I suspect this wine will gain in precision as it absorbs some of its baby fat. Finishes with a serious dusting of refined, fully ripe tannins and excellent, slowly building length. This should evolve gracefully.
Slightly reduced. Intense and jewelly nose. Lots of sweet fruit – more 2015 than Pernand? Arguably just a little riper than perfection? A bit chunky. (JR)
(20% new oak): Bright medium ruby-red. Shy, limestone-driven nose hints at crushed cherry and crushed rock. Dense but a bit clenched following the Les Vergelesses, conveying a slight medicinal bitterness to its flavors of violet, licorice and bitter cherry. At once less spicy and smoother than usual for this wine. Finishes with serious ripe tannins, though, and an element of minerality. One of the estate's four plots in Ile des Vergelesses is 60 years old; the others were planted in the '80s and '90s (and the one on SO4 rootstock was pulled up after the 2015 harvest).
