The 2012 Pinot Noir from Boar’s View, a blend of Calera, Mt. Eden and Swan clones, was aged 11 months in three separate French cooperages. This wine shows loads of sweet plum, Asian spice, black cherry and blacker currant notes, good acidity, medium to full body, and a nice, long layered mouthfeel. It’s still young, but promises to drink well for another 7-8 years.

The 2012 Pinot Noir The Coast is terrific. Ripe, juicy and explosive to the core, the 2012 blossoms with notable depth and texture, all beautifully balanced by the salinity and structure of the coast. The style is bold, ripe and exuberant, with all the elements very nicely balanced. This sumptuous Pinot is going to offer a wide window of fabulous drinking pretty much upon release.
For the 2012 Pinot Noir The Coast, the winemaking team went for muscle, structure and density with the Calera, Mt. Eden and Swan clones. It exhibits a dense ruby/purple-tinged color as well as a sweet bouquet of raspberries, black cherries, earth and spring flowers. Juicy and succulent with a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel and terrific acids buttressing and giving delineation to this complex Pinot, it will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age, will hit its peak in 5-10 years, and last for 12-15. This is a heck-of-a debut offering from Carol and Fred Schrader.
