Punteggio 17.5/20 · Da bere 1990-2030, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, Jul 2022

Tasted as part of the Symington's event at the Portuguese embassy in London to launch the Graham's and Warre's 2020 anniversary ports and celebrate 650 years of Anglo-Portuguese friendship.  Principal source: Quinta do Retiro Pequeno with smaller contributions  from three neighbouring Rio Torto properties. A little lighter in colour than the Graham's. More nutty, more mature smelling, more undergrowth and less sweet-fruited. Subtle, super-fine tannins, more elegant texture than the Graham's but less gorgeous aromas, less pure, more mature tasting but still has sufficient fruit for balance.  (JH)

Second bottle opened. Tasted blind. Pale-mid tawny. A brawny nose, with black pepper – very savoury. Medium-full body, not so sweet and almost with a salinity. Mature and quite beefy. I'm not sure who this will appeal to. (TJ)

Pale ruby. Round and a bit spirity. Pretty aggressive. Lots of alcohol on the end. (JR)

Surprisingly delicate and fruity at this stage. Ready to drink with a lightly sweet fruit, raspberry, and dark berry character and a bright acidity.
