Note di degustazione
The 2017 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard is just gorgeous. Inky, powerful and plush, the Hayne is so expressive today. All of the vineyard signatures come through - especially the purity of the fruit - but with less of the tannic heft the wine can show in its youth.

Fruit for this comes from vines planted in 1953. A barrel sample to be bottled in March, the 2017 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard has a very deep purple-black, opaque color and very perfumed nose of charcuterie, dried blue flowers and granite with a core of lush, ripe black and blue fruits. Full-bodied and huge in the mouth, it's very perfumed and has lovely dark fruit layers, framed by very firm, chewy tannins and just enough freshness to lift the long, dense finish. 625 cases are expected to be made.
The 2017 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard is a very pretty wine, and also the Petite that feels the least affected by the challenges of the growing season. Ink, crème de cassis, mint, licorice and plum are all layered in this beautiful, supremely expressive Petite. In the glass, the 2017 is silky, polished and wonderfully nuanced, even if it remains a bit on the slender side.
