A blend of 66% Merlot and 34% Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Château De Ferrand is deep ruby/plum-hued and offers terrific aromatics of red and black cherries, new leather, savory tobacco, and iron. Concentrated and structured on the palate, it has medium to full-bodied richness, a balanced, layered mouthfeel, ripe yet firmer tannins, and a great finish. A beautiful wine, it’s going to require 4-6 years in the cellar and will drink nicely over the following two decades. This is a Château to watch.

The 2022 Château de Ferrand has a refined and delineated bouquet with ripe red berry fruit, cedar and light fig scents. It is bold without being brash. The palate is well balanced and fresh, with fine grip. There's real backbone to this Saint-Émilion, with dark chocolate and mocha notes toward the finish. This is a well-crafted de Ferrand that should give 15 to 20 years of drinking pleasure.
Measured delivery of black fruits, good quality, this is an enjoyable wine and one to recommend. Héritiers de Baron Bich, 44hl/h yield, 3.65ph, harvest September 5 to October 5, located in a cooler spot in Saint-Hippolyte. In organic conversion.
66% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample. Not the deepest crimson. Super-ripe rather than fresh on the nose. Thick and sweet with some slightly green tannin on the end. (JR)
