Inky ruby. Pungent black and blue fruits, licorice and succulent herbs on the spice-accented nose. Shows good depth and breadth on the palate, offering ripe cassis and cherry flavors that take on smoky bacon and violet pastille qualities as the wine opens up. Shows surprising energy for its heft and finishes impressively long and spicy, with dusty tannins adding firming grip.

More classically built than the 2018, the 2017 Crozes Hermitage features a mélange of cranberries, cherries and raspberries. It's full-bodied, silky and peppery, with a firm but ripe base of tannins and a long, savory finish.
I continue to love what this estate does, and the 2017 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine Des Lises is no exception. Revealing a deep purple color as well as notes of plums, blackberries, ground pepper, and leafy herbs and spring flowers, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a lively, vibrant texture, good acidity, and an overall balanced, classy style. Readers looking for a juicy, well-made Northern Rhône Syrah to drink over the coming 7-8 years should snatch this up.
Lovely liquorice, black cherry and leather flavours. Snappy acid, furry tannin, bitter chocolate length. Clean, pristine, fresh. (RH)
