Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2013-2026, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jun 2013

The 1996 Corton-Charlemagne is rich, honeyed and totally beautiful. Almonds, white flowers, nectarines and subtle French oak are all layered together in a rich fabric of notable class. Remarkably accessible for a 1996, Jadot's Corton Charlemagne is drinking beautifully today. The creamy, medium-bodied style is highly appealing.

The Corton-Charlemagne has a deep, rich, and ripe nose packed with white fruits. On the palate, it is an oily-textured, medium-to-full-bodied, and dense wine with metal, mineral, sweet candied nut, buttered popcorn and poached pear flavors. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2008. Importer: Kobrand, Inc., New York, NY; (212) 490-9300.

A knock out and still very fresh nose of limestone, earth, citrus and white flowers complements well defined flavors that are now beginning to fill out yet remain admirably precise with superb elegance and driving, indeed even penetrating acidity. The nose now displays the beginnings of secondary development and while the flavors remain youthful, they too are no longer the block of minerality they once were. This should live for many years to come as it is a powerful, elegant and well-balanced wine. In sum, this is a classic Corton-Charlemagne in both style and character. Tasted many times with consistent notes. Allen Meadows, Burghound, Dec10,2006.
