2001 Gruner Veltliner Vinothek Smaragd

Deep coppery gold. Mineral and very intense. Hint of toast. Very rich and ripe. The alcohol is slightly obvious on the finish, even though this was a supposedly cool vintage – presumably this was an extreme 2001. Hint of botrytis. Very broad. But certainly not tired. (JR)
