The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon The Classic burst from the glass with a striking simulacrum of crème de cassis, blueberry liqueur and mint. On the palate, it's full-bodied, layered and expansive, cutting a broad swathe across the palate and concluding with a saline finish. As with Reynvaan's Syrah cuvées, this is decidedly low in acidity, but to my palate, the saline/mineral element that lends all these bottlings freshness—and that works well in Syrah—comes here at the expense of some of Cabernet's varietal character. While the 2015 won't disappoint admirers of this cuvée, it's a wine I find a bit perplexing.

The 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon The Classic has a touch of Pauillac like lead pencil and graphite to go with plenty of ripe black currant fruit, tobacco leaf, and underbrush aromas and flavors. This medium to full-bodied, ripe, seamless Cabernet has sweet tannin, moderate acidity, and an already impossible to resist character. Drink it anytime over the coming decade.
