Extremely heavy bottle. A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 3% Malbec, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Aged for 24 months in French oak. 5,000 cases produced. Smells of black cherry, blueberry and blackberries. Flavours of black cherry and blackberry are wrapped in muscular but supple, fine-grained tannins and bright with very good acidity. Sweet oak dominates the finish, but the dark-berry fruit makes a good showing of it. Brawny and big, but with enough juiciness to carry it off without a sense of heaviness. (AY)

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate includes the small addition of 6% Merlot and splashes of Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. Displaying a deeper purple/red color, it’s more brooding and takes on more intensity in the glass, with notes of resinous tobacco, blackcurrant, cocoa, and polished leather. Full-bodied, it also has more pronounced structure, with good freshness and an even spine of acidity. It’s long on the palate, with ripe tannins and an earthy finish. It’s very well-made and is going to age gracefully over the next 15 years.
