2014 Schramsberg J.Schram Noirs

A blend of 81% Pinot Noir and 19% Chardonnay from several counties (Marin, Mendocino, Sonoma, Napa). Mostly steel-fermented but 36% is fermented in barrel. Spends 8.3 years on lees in the bottle. Disgorged August 2023. 2,150 cases made.               Light bronze-gold with medium-fine bubbles. Smells of dried apricots, honey-roasted nuts and toasted challah. A voluminous, silky mousse delivers flavours of roasted nuts, honey, candied citrus peel, crème anglaise and toasted sourdough bread. Faintly saline and very sexy. (AY)
