2015 Sandlands Carignan Contra Costa

Silky and translucent, the 2015 Carignan (Contra Costa) is gorgeous. The slightly dark profile for Carignane strongly suggests the presence of other varieties in what is almost certainly a field blend. A host of dark red stone fruit, mint, lavender and floral notes develop in the glass. There is lovely mid-palate pliancy and depth to the 2015, with only a hint of stem character from the 100% whole clusters that is really only evident on the finish. This is very nicely done.
