Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2022-2030, Neal Martin, Nov 2022

The 2010 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a pale, limpid hue. It's a little anonymous on the nose, to be frank, with a touch of struck-match reduction but not enough to really engage the senses. The palate is better with fine definition and weight, touches of almond and quince, a little oiliness towards the finish and a dab of white chocolate on the aftertaste. Not bad, though doesn't quite fit the billing. Tasted blind at the Roumier Les Cras vertical at Medlar, London.

Very ripe, lightly resiny aromas of apple, hay, nuts, ginger, minerals and exotic flowers. Youthfully disjointed on the palate, combining penetrating liquid minerality and strong, almost citrussy acidity; I wanted a bit more balancing fruit. Very chewy, salty, concentrated wine with a finishing suggestion of crab apple that suggests late harvesting. With its pronounced acid element, this is tough going today.
