Full bright ruby to the rim. Brooding, slightly herbal scents of black cherry, blackberry, licorice and menthol. Concentrated, rich, fairly full-bodied wine but inky and a bit overbearing, with a strong herbacity and drying tannins making it tough going today. I don't find enough fruit sweetness to be optimistic about further improvement in bottle. The tannins build, leaving the tongue parched. Too musclebound and inky for its own good. This wine reminded me of some Napa Valley Cabernets from the '70s and '80s that did not get enough racking and aeration before being bottled.

NHB. That oily oak note again… Very ripe fruit and slightly jagged acidity on the end. Chewy tannins. Needs time? (JR)
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve possesses an elegant, sweet cassis bouquet, medium-bodied, stylish, restrained, understated flavors, good purity, some tannin, and a moderately long finish. It’s good, but not one of this estate’s stars such as we’ve seen over recent years. Tel. (866) 895-7696
