Note di degustazione
The 2002 Riesling Spatlese Graacher Himmelreich is similar to the Wehlener Sonnenuhr, yet with more flavors of gun flint and slightly better balance. Light to medium-bodied, it reveals smoky slate, pear, flint and mineral flavors in its satin-textured, soft character. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020. Tasting J. J. Prum’s 2002s at such an early stage in their development was particularly difficult due to their high levels of sulfur and CO2. Readers wishing to drink any of theses wines in the next two years are well-advised to decant them for a few hours before serving.

It took a few minutes for the fermentative overlay to blow off here, revealing blue and black fruits, citrus, salt and iodine minerality, with a tingling combination of acidity and spritz. Like all of the wines here today, this is notable for its delicacy of touch and satisfying length. 1 star.
