The 2001 Shiraz Mount Edelstone is ripe, plush and balanced with some noticeable sweet oak. The 2001 is a fruit powerhouse with supple textures and finer tannins to underpin the lengthy finish. This is drinking well now and will hold.

The magnificent 2001 Mount Edelstone (100% Eden Valley Shiraz) boasts a dense purple color in addition to a gorgeous perfume of blackberry liqueur, white flowers, and toasty, subtle wood. Underbrush, pepper, and licorice also make an appearance. Dark crimson. Spice and sweetness on the nose – almost cheesy – with quite a drying finish. Much more beguiling than many – and very much no-prisoners-Australian style. Just a little dry and tarry on the finish. (JR)
