(with thanks to the Phoenix Chevaliers). A highly expressive and perfumed nose of spicy, earthy and slightly smoky black fruit aromas merges seamlessly into sexy, round and wonderfully pure middle weight flavors that are brilliantly detailed and impressively persistent. This is very classy juice with ample power and punch that is approaching the front end of peak drinkability but for my taste, I would allow another 3 to 5 years of cellar time first. In a word, lovely.

Good red-ruby color. Black fruits, licorice and spices on the nose. Tightly wound but already quite aromatic in the mouth, hinting at pepper, spices and flowers. Very subtle, refined Echezeaux, finishing with lingering flavors of berries, licorice and spice.

The enthralling aromatics of the 2002 Echezeaux display sweet spices, flowers, and roasted dark cherries. Its magnificently textured personality is silky, elegant, medium-bodied, and packed with rose-laced black cherries. This long, refined, beautifully harmonious wine should be drunk between 2007 and 2015. Importer: A Peter Vezan Selection, Paris fax #011-33-1-42-55-42-93

Bright ruby-red. Slightly reduced but nuanced aromas of black cherry, licorice, gunflint, minerals and underbrush. Fat, sweet and full, but a bit less expressive today than the Chaignots. Still, this offers noteworthy complexity, hinting at black raspberry, licorice, minerals, shoe polish and mint. Quite firm on the finish. Needs four or five years of additional bottle aging.
