Cress and mint supply high-toned, incisive, cooling presence on the nose, and reconvene on a buoyant palate featuring just enough sweetness to support a vivid impression of luscious, tangy kiwi fruit with seed-crunching invigoration. Seed-tinged ripe pear adds to the fruity generosity of a bottling that finishes with a persistently winsome combination of seductive soothing and vibrant invigoration. Just try resisting the second sip!

The 2015 Riesling Urziger Wurzgarten Spatlese (Golden Capsule) opens with a very clear and aromatic white stone fruit aroma intermixed with clear and smoky aromas. Sweet, lush and intense, this is a concentrated, already densely textured Spatlese with a firm mineral grip and tension that gives this 2015 unreal aging potential and great complexity. Readers should cellar this wine for at least 15- 20 years since there are so many more delicate Rieslings to buy in the category. Molitor’s Wurzgarten, though, will still be young in 30 or 40 years, and that’s not due to very generous sulfur doses but thanks to the old, ungrafted vines and the well-elaborated selection for the Spatlese category.
