Savoury nose. Solid stuff on the palate even if not ethereal. There is indeed grand-cru weight here. And excitement, though perhaps just slightly the sense it is made to order rather than made from the ground up, but I may be being awfully unfair... (JR)

Musky aromas of clove and white truffle. Silky, sweet and tactile, with terrific energy and cut to the peach, spice and nut oil flavors. Finishes with compelling spicy persistence and perfume. (The very ripe, sappy Batard showed a captivating sweetness but had too much unconverted malic acidity to assess with confidence.)
