Closed aromatically, the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Lieu-Dit Pignan nevertheless has a generous, medium to full-bodied, concentrated style that carries black raspberry and blackberry fruits, some ground pepper and spring flower nuances, beautiful mid-palate depth, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It’s an incredible effort in a challenging vintage (the south was slightly more successful than the north in 2021) and will drink beautifully over the coming decade.
