Note di degustazione
The 2009 Echezeaux Grand Cru is a little mare evolved on the nose in direct comparison to the 2010, moving firmly into secondary aromas of undergrowth, leather and sage, though ample fruit is still extant. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit and fine backbone, lengthy if just missing the complexity of the best vintages produced by the domaine. A solid showing rather than a spectacular one.

Transparent shaded ruby. On the nose this seems to have some of the delicacy of the 2023s. Lovely, gorgeous, rich violet fruit with a subtle undertow. So fresh! Violets on the palate, too. An utter charm-pot, to coin a phrase. Great persistence and a serious undertow. Louis-Michel expects it to suddenly fall off its perch but agrees it’s lovely now.

Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. The 2009 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a delightful bouquet even if it has to shrug off a little reduction. There are plush red cherry and raspberry fruit, rose petals and candied orange peel scents. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, fine acidity, quite tannic and almost like a 2010 in style than 2009. It does not quite deliver the sustain on the finish but it should age nicely over the next 15 to 20 years. Tasted June 2015.
