The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru has a lot of fruit on the nose (mulberry, red plums and crushed strawberry) and comes across plush and quite oaky, with a little reduction to address. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins and quite rounded, though at the moment, this is dictated by the new oak, which renders the finish a bit generic. The oak may well be absorbed with age, allowing the fruit to shine. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru has a very intense bouquet of black cherries, briar, crushed stone and a touch of potpourri and wild heather - very complex and compelling. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity, and quite effervescent, like the Les Petit Monts. The energetic, lightly spiced and persistent finish is typical of this revered vineyard. This is another great Aux Reignots in 2017.
The 2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots is second only to La Romanée in the Liger-Belair cellar this year, wafting from the glass with a striking bouquet of wild rose, spices, French roast, dark chocolate, smoked duck and ineffable savory nuances that has already integrated its new wood to a much greater degree than any of the wines that preceded it. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, with a satiny-textured attack, a juicy and gourmand core of fruit, supple tannins and a long, fragrant and beautifully delineated finish.
