Note di degustazione
Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. The 2003 Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château has a rather anonymous bouquet after the 2002, denuded of fruit both by the growing season and bottle age. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry. This is marked by low acidity, soft and "fluffy" with a soy-tinged finish that is beginning to show some dryness. It is not a terrible 2003 by a long shot, though it is not a patch on the previous vintage. Tasted June 2015.

Monopole. Quite an appealing ruby colour. Exotic nose. Smooth, generous and dense, but with freshness. Great power. Long, but with a tough, very stern finish that suggests this wine will always be marked to a certain extent by tannin.
Medium red. Very ripe aromas of black cherry and plum, with low tones of smoked meat and humus. Then a bit higher-pitched in the mouth, with sweet but minerally flavors and a reasonably light touch for the year. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and persistent flavors of dark fruits, minerals and nutty oak. This wine has a rather high pH, notes Liger-Belair, but then it's always the highest in the cellar.
