The 1994 Vintage Port is pure finesse and elegance. Cedarwood, blackberry liqueur, plums, and exotic spices are followed by a medium to full-bodied, elegant, seamless beauty that has a terrific mix of richness and freshness. It’s a beautiful wine.

Rather evolved crimson with a ruby, almost brick edge. Very sweet and alcoholic – the main impressions at this stage. Something rather gamey and intriguing. Good acid balance but the tannins are perhaps a little slight for a great vintage port. Lots of medium term pleasure rather than indomitable ambition. Long enough. (JR)
One of the finest Warres I have ever tasted, this opaque purple-colored wine is made in a drier style (a la Dow), yet it is expressive, extremely full-bodied, with superb richness, purity, and well-integrated alcohol and tannin. It possesses a great mid-palate as well as impressive length. Tasters should take note of the wealth of peppery, licorice-scented and flavored raspberry and blackcurrant fruit. Look for it to be ready to drink in 10-12 years, and keep for 30+. This is a profound example of Warre vintage port. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. (205) 980-8802
