The 1976 Figeac is a delightful, fully mature Figeac. Dried flowers intermixed with mint and sage gradually cohere in the glass, gaining more and more harmony. The palate is medium-bodied, a pretty, slightly insubstantial Figeac, yet fine-boned with commendable sapidity. While it does not hold a candle to the legendary post-war vintage, given the difficulties of the growing season, this has matured well. One of the top successes of the vintage, the 1976 Figeac was consistently impressive in tastings. A big, deep, cedary, ripe fruity bouquet shows good complexity. On the palate, this lush, rich, full-bodied wine avoids the soupy softness and diluted character of many wines produced in 1976. Sitting on the border with Pomerol, Ch. Figeac is a distinguished Saint-Emilion estate that produces some of the region's most sought-after wines. As of 2022, it is officially classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé A, one of the appellation's top estates along with Ch. Pavie.
