2002 Pannobile

(from cask; 65% blaufrankisch, 30% Sankt Laurent and 5% syrah; this incorporates blaufrankisch parcels that informed single-vineyard cuvees in 2003. Woodsmoke, tobacco, resin and black fruit aromas. Creamy, satiny, meaty and substantial in the mouth, with dominant ripe black fruits accented by pungent herbs and tobacco. Creamy yet juicy and satisfyingly nuanced on the finish. 1 star.
