Note di degustazione
Smoky pears can be found in the aromatics of the 2000 Tokay-Pinot Gris Vieilles Vignes. Medium to full-bodied and satin-textured, it reveals a broad, complex personality that has yet to blossom. Peaches, apricots, and spices can be found in this youthfully unevolved wine's personality. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2015. Olivier Humbrecht describes 2000 as "a year of excellent ripeness where the key to success was sorting out the bad rot prior to harvesting." To accomplish this, Humbrecht sent out teams to go through every parcel, dropping whatever bunches had been infected with sour rot. Domaine Zind-Humbrecht's harvest lasted 6 weeks, with one-fourth being accomplished between September 19 and October 5th, and the remaining three-fourths picked by October 31st. Orange blossom, vanilla and a suggestion of candied peach. Sweet, spicy and fresh, with lovely fruit character. Long, spicy finish. Very attractive wine, with about 20 g/l r.s. to support the 16% alcohol.
