The 2023 Shiraz Viognier is finely proportioned and teases with well-composed charcuterie, Chinese five-spice and dried lavender aromas set against a backdrop of cranberry and cherry. The palate is silky and fleshy textured, with gentle al dente tannins in a supremely elegant package. More herbal tones rise on a silky finish.

Mid garnet. Actually less expressive than the Hilltops Shiraz 2022! A little lacking focus, though subtle. It does build towards a pretty impressive, if very dry, finish. (JR)
The 2023 Shiraz Viognier leads with wet garden rose, sage, apricot, raspberry, pomegranate and blueberry. The wine is bloody, mineral, very fine and with a honed, wet stone feeling to the tannins. I've tasted Pinot today with bigger, more loose-weave tannins than this superb beauty of a thing. This takes svelte to a whole new level. Once again, this is highly recommended. It's one of my favorite Shirazes from this great country. It is made with 6% co-fermented Viognier. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

The Kirk family’s winery was one of the first to put Murrumbateman Shiraz on the fine wine map. Founded in 1971, Clonakilla pioneered this cool-climate region and today the estate produces some of the finest Shiraz in Australia and the world, inspired by the styles of the Northern Rhône.
