Aromas of candied limes, smoky slate, and white pepper are found in the explosive nose of the 2001 Riesling Spatlese Wehlener Sonnenuhr. A sultry, seductive wine, it luxuriously slathers the taster's palate with rich, yet focused, layers of juicy lemons, red cherries, currants, blueberries, limes, and pears. Notes of candied raspberries make an appearance in this exceptional offering's unbelievably long finish. Pure, elegant, powerful, deep, and densely packed, it should get even better with cellaring.
