2019 Vacqueyras Cuvee St Roch

70% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre. Aged in concrete and stainless steel for 18 months. Tank sample. Tasted blind. Leather and spice-led fruit – big and weighty tannins and a smoky note. The tannins are a little prominent and astringent. Good fruit beneath though – might emerge over the coming years? (AC)
