Absolutely stunning, the 2007 Château des Tours Côtes du Rhône Reserve opens beautifully in the glass to show spectacular framboise, kirsch, spice, and dried flower aromatics. A touch of dried beef and minerality comes out with air and the exuberance and intensity are certainly noteworthy. In the mouth, the wine is medium+ bodied and displays a round, silky texture, fantastic balance, ripe tannin, and a long, classy finish. I was more than impressed and this should drink beautifully over the next 10+ years.

Made in a similar styleas the 2007 Vin de Pays blanc, the 2006 Vin de Pays blanc reveals slightly more evolved aromatics. The home estate of Emmanuel Reynaud, these are idiosyncratic, but often terrific wines that tend to reveal tremendous vintage variation. Domaine des Tours is a separate label to Ch. des Tours, however both ranges are made at the same Vacqueyras property. Part of the Rayas galaxy and made by Emmanuel Reynaud, the wines are a source of great value and offer a glimpse of the Rayas style.
