2009 Frauenberg Spatburgunder Grosses Gewachs

Mid garnet with soft rim. Gentle, almost smoky red fruit and spicy sweetness of maturity. Not as developed as that undergrowth character but still showing some development even though the fruit is still firmly in place as the core of this wine. Perfumed on the nose and scented on the palate. A spicy savoury quality that lingers to a long finish. Silky smooth, still with a bite of texture and freshness. Mouth-wateringly moreish on the palate even if the fruit was clearly ripe. (JH)
