Rings Kallstadter 2022 Saumagen GG Riesling Trocken displays a lemon-yellow color and opens with a pure, highly complex and mineral as well as refined bouquet of crushed limestones, iodine and ripe and intense Riesling berry aromas. Full-bodied, round and rich on the palate, this is a generous but saline and mineral-backboned Riesling with a powerful and sustainable finish that reveals finely mealy tannins and saline notes. This is a great Saumagen of the 2022 vintage. The grapes were sourced in the stonier parts of this very warm site where Rings own three hectares of Riesling but used only one for this grand cru. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in November 2023.

RS 0.2 g/l, TA 7.2 g/l. Cool herbal notes, more flowers than fruit. Austere palate marked with delineated layers of citrus precision and focus. Fine-boned with a chalky finesse and haunting balance. Grated lime peel and rock dust with an elegant finishing spice. The lines are drawn but time needs to fill in the shading. Stunning potential. (PS)
