The 2014 Riesling Kabinett has a very clear and bright bouquet with lovely flinty and slate aromas. Light and frisky, lovely, piquant and mineral on the palate, this is clear, pure, very elegant and Jugendstil Riesling with an extremely stimulating salinity in the finish. A beauty! I tasted from AP #5.

The Prüms try to render a generic Kabinett from slightly less well-situated holdings even in years when they elect to begin their site-specific bottlings only at Spätlese level. Scents of clover, honeysuckle and apple blossom usher in a delicate, subtly creamy, infectiously juicy palate performance dominated by fresh apple and underlain with wet stone. (Bottling of the Prüms’ generic Kabinett takes place in late spring, several months before any of their other wines.)
