2009 Cornas Patou Cuvee Vieilles Vignes

A completely different animal is the beautiful 2009 Cornas Patou, which possesses a saturated purple color along with a sweet perfume of creme de cassis, charcoal, white flowers and licorice, a full-bodied, rich mouthfeel and a beautiful texture. It should provide plenty of enjoyment over the next 10-15 years. (Not yet released) These two wines offer a dramatic illustration of the differences between 2008 and 2009, the former mediocre to below average in quality, and the latter exceptional.
