Full bottle 1,240 g. Estate-grown grapes from the North Downs of Kent. Dusty redcurrant nose. Quite balsamic on the palate – not something I usually associate with English Pinot Noir. It reminds me of the smell of the balsamic vinegar casks when I visited the acetaias in Emilia-Romagna. I wonder if it’s the oak? Lots of oak. Surprisingly dark-fruited for an English Pinot. Sloes, elderberry, bullace plum. Very pretty, pure fruit in a tight corset of astringent tannins. The oak takes over on the finish, although this might ease with time, given the depth of fruit. Faint note of vanilla on the end. (TC)

Fruit from Kent. Three months' ageing in 2-year-old French oak barrels. MLF done and bottled in spring 2021. RS 1.7 g/l. Bright crimson. Again, nice fruit but the oak is a bit too dominant. Shame! (JR)
