Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2029-2065, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Feb 2026

The 2021 Maximin Grünhaus Abtsberg GG is highly toned, bright, fresh and airy on the nose and reveals delicate, quite filigreed fruit intermingled with the floral slate aroma of the soil. The wine attacks the palate with the vibrant yet refined acidity of the 2021 vintage. Straight rather than textured, it is crystalline, savory and very typical for a Ruwer Riesling from the golden old pre-global warming age, if I may say so. It is classic. This is part of the Schlosskeller Reserve that the von Schubert family released last year to compensate for the dramatic losses to spring frost in 2024. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in January 2026.

The most fumy of all the von Schubert GGs. And the tightest and most linear/elegant on the palate. The most mineral, too. Long and stony but suffused with pure, bright lemon fruit. (JH)

Delicate green and white fruits interspersed with lifting notes of mint and citrus. But a cool site in a cool year means that fruit is truly an afterthought. Defined by stone, momentum and light. Still a baby, and yet the structured vibrancy and balance beautifully captures the rugged, singular and wild element for which the Ruwer is known. (PS)

Dense ripe peach and apricot character with a touch of mango chutney. Extremely vibrant on the super-focused, medium-bodied palate thanks to the electric acidity, but the wet stone minerality easily balances the wine’s raciness. Although this shows very well now it has been built for the long term. Very long and pristine finish. Drink or hold.
