2017 Bernkasteler Doctor Auslese WK (3 Star)

The 2017 Riesling Bernkasteler Doctor Auslese *** (White Capsule) –Auction– is incredibly deep, pure and flinty on the bright, intense, concentrated and citrus-scented nose with its smoky/crunchy notes of crushed stones and even iron girders. All this is an indication of another great, yet still slightly reductive Doctor. On the palate, this is a pure, lean, straight, highly finessed but concentrated and even lush Doctor with tight yet fine and stimulating tannins, endless salinity and exciting mineral tension. The close-meshed 2017 is a fantastic and elegant Doctor, but it needs years to unfold all its complexity and sensuality. Fascinatingly clear, complex and juicy! This is going to be another immortal Doctor. Tasted in March and April 2019. The 2017 is not yet in the market but is going to be auctioned in September of this year.
