This 60-year-old single malt is a commemorative bottling for Glen Grant Master Distiller Dennis Malcolm’s 60th year in the whisky industry. The oldest whisky to date from Glen Grant, it is a truly special bottling in honour of a man whose history is inextricably linked with that of the Speyside distillery. Malcolm was born on Glen Grant site in 1946. At the age of 15, he started his career at the distillery as an Apprentice Cooper, following in the footsteps of both his father and grandfather before him. After working at several Scotch powerhouses, Malcolm returned to Glen Grant for good in 2006. He is one of the longest-serving Master Distillers and an icon in the whisky industry. This single Oloroso Sherry cask bottling was filled on 24th October 1960. From very first sight this rare sexagenarian doesn’t fail to excite. With a swirling hue of deep chestnut, the immediately enticing, rich, fruity sherried nose evokes rich Christmas cake aromas that develop into layers of nutty pecan. With air, flavours of Seville orange and dark chocolate with just a minuscule trace of peaty smoke emerge. A truly remarkable dram, this is testament to the master’s craft and captures a classic Speyside era lost in the mists of time.
