Deep bright-rimmed ruby. Ripe red/blue fruit, floral and spice qualities on the highly perfumed nose. Shows impressive depth as well as energy to the appealingly sweet black raspberry, boysenberry and violet pastille flavors, which are underscored by smoky mineral and exotic spice flourishes. Finishes with excellent clarity, mineral thrust and a dusting of fine-grained, well-knit tannins.

Perfume, spice with floral notes and herbal peppery spice. Sapid with soft but gripping tannins. Bright lively fruit with hints of kirsch. A gentle but serious wine with earthy, crunchy elements that shine through on the finish. (AC)
The 2017 Morgon had just been bottled when I tasted it last year, and it's performing much better today, revealing a complex bouquet of ripe cherries, dark chocolate, smoked meats, peonies and spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, with excellent depth and concentration, concluding with a sapid—indeed carnal—finish.
An amazingly fresh and energetic wine that also has a ton of mineral power and great balance on the relatively sleek palate. The way this opens up, with some aeration, to wild strawberries and flowers, really shows what some further aging will do for it. Dark and complex finish that gives a lot more than usual for this appellation. Better from 2020.
