<strong>Nose Without Water</strong>: Sweet and Fruity - sultanas. A hint of vanilla and Sherry. <strong>Palate Without Water</strong>: Hints of black pepper and nuts. A fruitiness also emerges - bananas. <strong>Nose With Water</strong>: Sweet summer fruits and a hint of peppermint. A very delicate smoke note emerges. <strong>Palate With Water</strong>: Very creamy with a distinct cocoa element. A very slight presence of aniseed. Mouth coating. <strong>Body</strong>: Complex and smooth. <strong>Finish</strong>: Long and sweet.

In the 1850s, under George Cowie and his son Alexander’s stewardship, Mortlach became a well-respected blending malt. To this day, it is a key component in Johnnie Walker blends.
