Kavalan invests heavily in top-quality sherry casks, and this bottling yielded a nose of medjool dates, dried vine fruit, clove, vanilla essence, cigar wrapper, Brazil nut, licorice, and cacao. It’s fruity and syrupy with delicious rounded sherry flavors, black cherry, vine fruit, plum, black grape, blackberry, leather, and hazelnut, then grows oilier with notes of black coffee. Licorice and more leather on the finish. Water advisable.
